Hello everyone on NorthBayScene.ca!

Thought I would take to the local scene blog to talk a bit about a new project coming together in North Bay!

IWantToHelpYourBand.com is a brand new project started among a small group of friends aimed at helping bands create albums, websites, Facebook pages, a following, or basically anything else they may need all on a shoestring budget. With a very strong group of partners and friends, IWTHYB (for short) has created an impressive platform for your band to continue its rise up, to pick it up if it is falling, or to plant its feet if it is new.

We would love to help you and your band in any way!

You can find out more about this project and how to sign up by both ‘liking’ it on Facebook and visiting them online!

http://www.facebook.com/iwthyb

http://www.iwanttohelpyourband.com

Thanks,

Are you sick and tired of trying to rollerblade/bike around North Bay, ON and either having to contend with ignorant drivers who pass when they shouldn’t, don’t give you enough space and honk their horns for you to get on the sidewalk, or having to contend with runners and walkers (and their DOGS) on the “multi-use” path? Does it grind your gears even more to see all the roads being re-done that could accommodate bike lanes and instead the city spending money on “beautification projects”?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Calling all musicians and filmmakers! MFM brings its InSight and Sound Seminar Series to North Bay with two great panels!

Sudbury, October 26, 2010 – Music and Film in Motion (MFM) is pleased to announce its next workshops from the InSight and Sound Seminar Series in North Bay. “Placing Music in Film and Television” will be on Wednesday, November 10th from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and “Anatomy of a Release” will take place on the same day from 7:45 to 9:15 p.m.

“Placing Music in Film and Television” takes an inside look at how to get your music in a film or television show. This session will cover the many ways, and the process by which, an artist can get their music placed in film and television productions. The session will be instructed by Chris Budd and Kyle Merkley. Chris is the president of Bearsuit Publishing, a publishing and song pitching company based in Toronto and he is the founder/editor for a Canadian music blog, Indie Music Filter. Kyle is Arpix’s Music Coordinator. Submissions, technical delivery, and paperwork typically flow through him, along with all the other fun stuff that comes with music supervision.

“Anatomy of a Release” will explore the dynamics of a film’s release process. Taking a hypothetical approach, the session will investigate each step, from development through exhibition, with insight provided by key industry figures. The session will be instructed by Sean Cisterna and Anna Tsoulogiannis. Sean is a Director/Producer who is fresh off the heels of a successful broadcast premiere of King of the Camp, a feature film musical he co-produced and directed, which aired on YTV in May 2008. He has currently just wrapped production on Moon Point, a new feature film comedy starring a number of well-recognized Canadian faces in film and television. Anna is currently the Programmer for Movieola – The Short Film Channel. From working in the Acquisitions division of Ouat Media Distribution to becoming New Media Content Programmer for Movieola, she has since gone on to head all Programming/Acquisitions for the Movieola brand.

The sessions, free for members and $5 for non-members, will be taking place in the Garland Room in the Holiday Inn Express, located at 1325 Seymour Street in North Bay.

For more information or to register for this session, please call MFM at 705-674-9954 or visit our website at www.thinknorth.ca. Space is limited so please book ahead to reserve a place. This session is offered in English only.

Music and Film in Motion is a non-profit organization whose mandate is to foster and promote the development of the music and film industries in Northern Ontario.
