The Windsong Music Festival is an outdoor musical experience that takes place under circus tents just outside of Powassan. This year the festival is featuring performances from Madison Violet, Mathew Barber, Craig Cardiff, Allison Lickley and more. North Bay’s White Water Gallery is presenting an acoustic music night. A fundraising night where proceeds go to the gallery to better support the arts.

Brave Astronaut CD Now Available

North Bay band Brave Astronaut (www.myspace.com/braveastronaut) has released its’ debut self-titled album. Comprised of Marianne Haist-Vocals/Keys, Drew Andress-Bass, Jon Cranston-Guitars and Sean McCarthy-Drums, the band has been working on the record for the last year.

The album features 11 alt rock songs with infectious melodies and riffs. It is on sale now at CD Plus in the Northgate Shopping Center and downtown at Tone Stack Guitars.

The band promises that an official CD release show is currently underway, but until then you’ll have to grab the album or check out their Myspace.

A Little Dark Music

Frank Horvat, a pianist and composer from Toronto, Ontario will be in North Bay to present a unique piano recital at Brava Music Studios (1428 O’Brien St) on Saturday, May 1.
The recital presents new original piano music in honour of Earth Hour and it all takes place in a completely dark performance space. This also marks the release of Frank’s new CD, “A Little Dark Music”. The event is one of many concerts in the year-long cross-Canada “Green Keys Tour” – promoting eco-sustainability. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the new CD goes to the World Wildlife Fund.
