Looks like a “No Boys Allowed” Night for the Urban Cafe. The Gateway City Roller Derby are hosting a semi-open mic party. Here is the message:
For those of you who joined us for our Christmas party and want more, or for those of you who missed out and want to get in the game: Gateway City Roller Derby and their friends at Deluxe Custom Tattoo are teaming up with The Urban Cafe for another fundraiser.
Girls vs. Guitars is an (all-ages) open mic night for female musicians and will help us raise money to get North Bay’s Roller Derby team on track – literally.
Interested acts may e-mail us at: northbayrollerderby@gmail.com
We look forward to seeing you there!

What about the trans-gendered community?
Uh, same rules apply: poster says each act must contain at least one woman. Meaning that every person, animal, vegetable, mineral can play, as long as they are accompanied by at least one woman.
Sorry, I meant to address the other question too: mixed gender roller derby leagues aren't recognized or insurable by the Flat Track Derby Association or Roller Sports Canada…. so men and woman have to play on separate teams, not unlike most professional sports. I think having other leagues in the city would be awesome, and that working with a men's derby team (if someone wanted to start one) would be rad!
Some people say im a huge pussy, can I play now?
